Our commitment
Emberline Essentials aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the storefront, the customer portal and the fifteen templates. We treat this as ongoing work, not a box checked once.
What we build in
- Every color pairing in our design tokens is checked by an automated contrast test against WCAG AA thresholds.
- Every template palette is contrast-checked before it ships, and the page background stays pure white or true dark for readability.
- Everything works with a keyboard: visible focus, skip links, dialogs that trap and return focus, and no keyboard traps.
- Headings, landmarks, labels and alt text are part of the templates, and the editor asks you for alt text when you upload a photo.
- Motion respects the "reduce motion" setting on your device. Animations are decorative and never the only way to get information.
- Pages are built to be fast on low-cost phones and slow connections.
What we test
We run automated checks (Lighthouse and contrast tests) on every template and on the storefront, and we run a scripted keyboard walk of the storefront checkout (opening it, tabbing through it and closing it). Lighthouse accessibility scores for the template demos ranged from 92 to 100 in our October 2026 tests.
Known limits
- A church controls the words, photos and alt text on its Site. We give guidance in the help library, but we cannot guarantee the content a church uploads.
- Embedded YouTube players and third-party giving pages are controlled by those providers.
- Some decorative effects (for example animated type) are hidden from assistive technology and turned off under reduced motion, but may still be visually busy for some users.
- We do not claim legal compliance with any specific law; we state the standard we build to and we test against it.
Tell us about a problem
If you hit an accessibility barrier on the storefront, the portal or a church Site we host, email hello@emberline.studio with the page address and what happened. We reply within two business days and fix what is ours to fix. If the barrier is in a church's content, we will pass it to the church and help them resolve it.
