Editing your content
How to change words, times, links and photos from your portal, what you cannot change, and how to undo.
Every word, photo, time and link on your site is a field in your portal. Change the field, press Publish, and the site updates in a minute or two.
Where to edit
Sign in at your portal and open Editor. The fields are grouped the way the site is: church settings, home page, about, visit, watch, events, connect. Each field shows a short hint about where it appears.
Type the new text, press Save draft as often as you like, and press Publish when you are ready for the world to see it. Drafts are private. Publishing is what changes the live site.
What you can change
- All text: headlines, paragraphs, button labels, service times, the welcome letter, your mission.
- All photos and your logo.
- Your palette or custom colors.
- Links: YouTube, giving, live stream, socials, Church Center.
- Events and dates.
- The menu labels and the order of next steps.
What you cannot change, on purpose
You cannot move sections, add new sections, change fonts or change the layout. That is the deal: the design stays the design, which is why your site still looks right two years from now and why nobody on your team can accidentally break it. If you need a custom section, that is a custom build at Emberline Studio.
Undo
Every publish is saved. Open History in the editor to see the list, and press Restore on any earlier version. Restoring makes a new publish, so nothing is ever lost.
Tips
- Keep headlines short. The designs use big type, and five words hit harder than fifteen.
- Say service times the way you say them out loud: "Sundays at 10," not "10:00:00 AM EST."
- Write to one person who has never been to church, not to your members.
